Abstract

This article sets out to develop a framework for which the resilience of “new” international ventures can be studied. As Eggers (2020) notes these ventures are the backbone of every economy and also of interest to the existing MNCs. We start our inquiry in the article Acs & Terjesen (2013). In the article, they reflect on two distinct avenues for new venture internationalization: a direct path described in much of the extant literature and an intermediated one in which new ventures and multinational firms create symbiotic relationships to expand internationally. Therefore, we analyze the global factory framework (Buckley 2009) and we found this to be a suitable framework for studying the future resilience of INVs, However, further advancements in industrial value network research (Möller et al. 2021) makes it pivot to integrate the two frameworks. This in order to make more precise analysis of the research possibilities within “Global Factory Networks”.
Also, as Gabrielsson & Gabrielsson (2013) already has pointed out, the future research must include the INVs network capability and entrepreneurial orientation, hence we add the INVs capability to recognize and act on international business opportunities to the research framework. Finally, we conclude that the future studies on resilience of INVs should include investigations on how entrepreneurs design their ventures. We consider this an important finding, as this points to the focus on design processes an important academic steppingstone before a thoroughly investigation on resilience of business models by INVs can take place.
