Abstract

A foundational understanding of US physics is essential for the clinical application of TUS. This chapter reviews key US artefacts arising from the air-filled lungs and outlines the strengths and limitations of various transducers. It further details the technical considerations and optimal probe-handling techniques required to obtain high-quality images. Finally, it provides a brief overview of established imaging protocols and presents a systematic, focused scanning approach for clinical practice.
