Abstract
This paper will, within the context of global technological leaders, begin the process of reconciling different perspectives on the reconfiguration of their global value chains. The paper departs from the observation that different streams of research – including operations management research – lead to different explanations concerning the optimal configuration of the company’s value chain, for example concerning the scope and scale of outsourcing.
