Abstract

Metasynthesis, the qualitative counterpart of metaanalysis (Hunt 1997), is defined as “an exploratory, inductive research design to synthesize primary qualitative case studies for the purpose of making contributions beyond those achieved in the original studies” (Hoon 2013: 523, see also Sandelowski 2000 and 1997, and Howell Major and Savin-Baden 2010).
This book chapter is introducing into the method based on an example - the support of brokerage of governance in company networks - from the entrepreneurship-research.
Meta-synthesis is suited to synthesize and aggregate case-based, qualitative empirical research, aggregate that needs interpretation on the meta-level and contributes to theory-building.
