Modeling and Identification of Drift in Knuckle Boom Cranes

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingArticle in proceedingsResearchpeer-review

Abstract

Automatic control of knuckle boom cranes is researched across different industries. The dynamics of the hydraulics of knuckle boom cranes are a nonlinear system which can be approximated by linear systems. However, the current linear systems do not consider the drift of the hydraulics, which is caused by gravity, friction and the nonlinearities of doubleacting cylinders. In this work, a method to identify and model that drift is proposed. The method is applied and verified on a real system
