Abstract
Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (li-ESWT) is a novel treatment to stimulate tissue remodeling and regeneration. Animal studies have demonstrated
local upregulation of eNOS and VEGF leading to angiogenesis and improved renal function in ischemia reperfusion kidney injury treated with li-ESWT. We tested the hypothesis that li-ESWT would improve glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and reduce urinary albumin excretion (UAE) in patients with diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
