Abstract
In this case report, we used an Apple watch series 6 to monitor the heart rate of a medical student making his first scientific presentation. He was monitored continuously from 7:37 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the day of his presentation. Events which might affect heart rate (studying and biking) were registered throughout the day. The mean heart rate was around 60 heartbeats per minute. The rate peaked at 152 heartbeats per minute during his scientific presentation. Heart rate variation is a known response to emotional strain and is associated with improved cognitive function, indicating that the increase in heart rate may be a rational response.
