Abstract
The dissertation examines the journalist-concept from a legal perspective by examining places in law where the term is used and there is uncertainty about what it means. An uncertainty attributed to the fact that we all got our own handheld media device, the mobile phone, and thus can fill the role that
previously required a medium-sized journalistic media entreprise. The dissertation examines the special journalist rules in the Danish Data Protection Act, Media Responsibility Act, Code of Conduct and Copyright Act, and concludes that although the four legal areas pursue widely different purposes, they together express something more generally about journalism. A journalistic medium is by enlarge defined in the same way, which is interesting, because the rules examined stems from four different legal areas adopted independently of each other.
