Abstract

The design of IoT-based smart buildings places great emphasis on network infrastructure and the integration of resilience into the overall system. The research aims to develop a methodology that comprehensively integrates resilience into the design of IoT-based smart buildings. The study reviews the existing literature on IoT-based smart buildings, emphasizing energy efficiency through the design of resilient architecture platforms. Fundamental aspects of resilience architecture in IoT-based smart buildings are explored, along with an examination of current research efforts and challenges in IoT resilience. The methodology employed for integrating resilience into the architecture design is described, revealing the utilization of the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology to enhance the architecture’s fault tolerance, survivability, and adaptability. The paper concludes with a summary of key findings and suggests future research directions for further enhancing the resilience of IoT-based smart building architectures.
