Abstract

The fundamental assumption in LANA is that craft for the future can only be met by creating a new place for crafts in the economic, social, and cultural lives of Europeans. Doing so will not only secure the future of crafts but will also be a vital opportunity for struggling rural areas to generate thriving rural economies. This is the double challenge that LANA sets out to meet by introducing a new model of craft-based rural development. While the model will be applicable to all crafts, it is developed and tested within wool-based crafts.
