Abstract

This symposium explores the ethical implications of algorithmic organizing by focusing on the complex interplay between humans and AI-driven technologies in the workplace. Drawing on critical research in organization studies, we examine how algorithms – ranging from decision trees to deep neural networks – are not only tools of efficiency but also agents that reconfigure social norms, subjectivity, and power relations within organizations. In particular, our panelists will interrogate how AI reshapes moral responsibility, organizational practices, and the proximity between managers and subordinates. The symposium ultimately aims to foster critical engagement with the moral dilemmas inherent in human-machine collaboration at work
