Abstract

This lecture will present current evidence on the effects of exercise therapy as treatment of knee osteoarthritis and specific recommendations on type of exercise, number of supervised sessions, pain during exercise and target population (part 1). Furthermore, the lecture will describe the implementation model, content and results of the implementation program Good Life with osteoArthritis from Denmark (GLA:D®), a 8-week education and exercise therapy program for knee and hip osteoarthritis implemented in Denmark, Canada, Australia, China, Switzerland, with more countries to come (part 2). Finally, examples of neuromuscular exercises from GLA:D® is presented by physiotherapist Sarah Kroman (part 3).
