    Abstract

The article investigates students’ perceived coping during emergency education related to COVID-19 school closures. Previous research show that both teaching and social context affect students’ perceived coping. The article is based on survey data from students in six municipalities collected in the midst of the COVID-19 shutdown. Based on a multiple linear OLS regression analysis, the article shows that most of the variance in students’ perceived coping is explained by their experience of emergency teaching, but also the framework of teaching and different types of teaching activities explain some variance. Also variance is found regarding both gender and socio-economic status. The article suggests points of interest if, as part of elementary school education, we need to teach students how to participate in online learning communities in order to prepare them for the global community of the future, where digital technologies are valuable tools.12 Learning Tech 07 | Didaktiske designs
