Abstract

There is currently no consensus in the literature regarding the most effective nutrient medium for biomethanation in trickle bed reactor (TBR) systems, particularly among the commonly used media. Since nutrients are a critical factor influencing reactor performance, identifying the optimal medium could significantly improve process efficiency and scalability. The aim of this study was to experimentally compare three different nutrient sources: artificial medium (AM), cow manure (CM), and anaerobic digestate (AD), under identical conditions, to evaluate their impact on methane production and reactor stability.
