Abstract

This document contains a concept paper for a capacity-building and training programme integrating international cooperation on combating maritime corruption. It also provides a proposal to invite interested International Maritime Organization Member States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations for the initiation of an informal group to serve as a forum for knowledge gathering and sharing, and collaboration on capacity-building development in relation to anti-corruption measures in the maritime industry. These initiatives would be expected to draw on the expertise of the International Maritime Organization, Member States and relevant international organizations in connection with anti-corruption measures. It would also build on the knowledge and educational offerings that have been run at the World Maritime University since 2016 on the subject. The proposals in this document respond to discussions held in the Facilitation Committee.
