Abstract
Seeing, hearing, and sensing in general are social practices. When anthropologists enter what we have defined as our field, we encounter a constant stream of sensory impressions that form the foundation of our analytical work. This chapter describes how to approach these impressions methodically, epistemologically and analytically. We examine how audio, visual, and sensory methods can be consciously employed to explore the world in anthropological projects, and what kind of particular knowledge is created and communicated through the use of these media.
