A Novel TetraTTF-calix[4]pyrrole Ouroborand for Explosive Detection

Abstract

We have synthesized the first example of an asymmetric tetraTTF-calix[4]pyrrole. This system features Ouroborand qualities due to selfcomplexation with the pyridine substituent. This forces the usually highly flexible calix[4]pyrrole into a preorganized conformation with improved explosive detection ability.
