A new Roadmap for Procurement and Sourcing Preparedness Activities in Humanitarian Disasters for NGOs

Abstract

In this study a new roadmap for procurement and sourcing activities is developed for international NGOs. The framework includes preparedness activities to support procurement and sourcing in case of humanitarian disasters. The study is based on a structured literature review and the case study approach including extensive interviews with key managers in a large international NGO. Challenges within procurement and sourcing has been identified including uncertainty in demand and regulations. The developed framework consisting of four stages of Procurement and Sourcing Preparedness Activities. These activities can increase the level of preparedness, thus saving more lives in sudden onset disasters.
