More specifically, {\'s}ālagrāmas are ammonite fossils or fossil concretions found in especially high numbers in that area. These fossils are worshipped as natural, aniconic manifestations of Viṣṇu due to a circular pattern of lines, regarded as imprints of Viṣṇu{\textquoteright}s discus (cakra).",
