Tracing causes of inequalities in health and well-being: Analysis of rich longitudinal data

Project: Research

Project Details

This project is financed by the Norwegian Research Council (Helsevel). It is a collaborative research project with University of Tromsø.

The focus of the project is on how individuals manage health shocks. The healthcare sector provides support by way of treatment and rehabilitation, but there is significant co-production by ways of patients’ own efforts. In the year of a health shock patients are likely to reduce their labour supply for treatment in hospital and rehabilitation. However, what happens in subsequent years? Can we explain heterogeneity in outcomes, as measured by health related quality of life, life satisfaction and job marketparticipation? To what extent do childhood circumstances, socio-economic characteristics and past life pathways impact on health resilience?
