Project Details

Description

Efficient data visualization is becoming increasingly essential to comprehend and analyze complex biomedical datasets. Measured under varying conditions, the set of post-translational modifications (PTMs) on histone proteins, which are key regulators of gene expression in healthy and cancer cells, constitute such a kind of dataset. We have developed and tested a novel visualization framework, which we plan to apply to renal cell carcinoma data in order to determine biomarkers for different tumor states. This requires to transform our framework into a flexible and convenient application that will enable us to analyze the carcinoma data in a more detailed and efficient manner than previously possible. At the same time, the application will become a valuable tool for the research community to use and apply to similar datasets and problems. The Visualizing Biological Data EMBO workshop with its diverse audience will be the ideal platform to discuss our visualization and get feedback andinspiration for improvement. With a broad background in experimental and computational protein and RNA research, I will be a valuable participant both in terms of contributing discussion, a poster and a lightning talk as well as comprehending and conveying the presented novel concepts in data visualization to my colleagues.
