Innovationsfonden - GPR84 antagonists for treatment of liver fibrosis

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Fatty liver is a common condition that can develop from obesity, diabetes, viral
infection or alcohol overconsumption, and that can progress to inflammation and
scar formation (fibrosis), and ultimately to liver failure. There are no approved
therapy for the diseases apart from lifestyle changes and liver transplantation. We
recently discovered a new series of compounds that are able to block the proinflammatory
receptor GPR84. In this project, we aim to optimize the compounds
further and to show in cell and animal studies that they have potential as
therapeutics for liver fibrosis
