Project Details
Description
Marine meritic (close to coasts) ecosystems such as seagrass, mussles as well as
coastal benthic (fjords) and coastal ecosystems (supratidal) such as dunes,
lagoons, salinas linked with wetlands and streams are among the world’s most
biodiverse ecosystems. They are also those most threatened by human activities
(eutrophication, erosion, warming, acidification, pollution). These marine-coastal- wetland networks also provide essential ecosystem services – such as drinking
water, food and climate regulation – that enhance society’s well-being.
