The entire subproject is marine. A biological and technical survey will identify the optimal sites for restoring 1170 reefs. The reefs will form suitable habitats for Blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) that serve as a primary food choice for Common eider (Somateria mollissima). The subproject will feature the restoration of 10 ha 1170 reef. (See Table B2a-6 for a list of actions in the subproject). If the preliminary study shows that it is appropriate and optimal for Common eider (Somateria mollissima) to restore stone reefs outside DK009X064, but within DK00VA254, the project is adapted to establish a total of 10 ha of stone reefs located on two sites within subproject 6, which is 4,770 Ha (see Table B2a-6 for actions in the subproject). The concrete conservation actions carried out in the subproject 6 will have a direct impact on securing favorable conservation status for one designated species and one designated natural habitat types (cf. Table B2a-4) in the Natura 2000 site DK009X064/ DK00VA254. The actions will have an indirect impact on the conservation status of two more designated species in the area, porpoise and goldeneye.

This Natura 2000 area is specially designated for the protection of porpois (Phocoena phocoena), Common eider (Somateria mollissima) and Common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula), as well as the marine natural types of sandbanks (1110) and reefs (1170).
