Project: PhD Project

Project Details

Description

In my PhD project “Experiences of post-war refugee care: Non-German Displaced Persons in Denmark 1945-1953” I investigate the Danish refugee care system which was set up for the 34.000 so-called non-German refugees (Displaced Persons), who found themselves in Danish refugee camps after WWII. I focus on the system’s institutional development, the agency of the refugees and their interactions with the system’s Danish employees. My project draws theoretical inspiration from street-level theory, the history of experiences, and the growing interest in refugee agency seen across recent publications in Danish and international refugee history.

The project is financed via a New Carlsberg Foundation Grant and runs from 2024-2027.
