Project Details
Description
For the purpose of this workshop series, we want to explore the concept of cre-debt cultures in the city, and study the linkages between urban development, credit economies and sociopolitical relations that emerge in formal and informal urban settlements. Through exploring the politics of debt in various cultural settings, including Europe, we aim to develop a comparative framework that highlights the interconnectedness of excessive credit card usage and (sovereign, private/household) debt practices in cities across the world, which will contribute towards drafting a large grant proposal in the final workshop. In the following, we outline the planned research initiative.
