The award winning article “Mapping deviant democracy” appeared in volume 21, issue 4 (pp. 634-654). Democratization is a highly respected, A-rated blind review academic journal (Thompson 2013 Impact Factor 0.636) published bimonthly by Taylor & Francis Publishers. Democratization is supported by an editorial board comprised of many of the leading scholars in the world in the field of theoretical and comparative democratization studies. All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by anonymous referees. 
The Frank Cass Prizes are awarded annually for articles that most enhance our knowledge and understanding of democratization. The Frank Cass Award for Best Article is open to all contributors appearing in the relevant volume. Nominations for consideration for the award are made by the editors. The judges are drawn from the Editorial Board and International Advisory Board
