Description

It is with great honour that the Executive Board informs all EFRS community that the ECR 2022 "Radiographers" Scientific Subcommittee has selected the presentation abstract entitled "Role expansion in ultrasound: radiographers in European Federation of Radiographer Societies’ (EFRS) countries" as the AWARD WINNER IN MERIT.

This award commends the work of EFRS Ultrasound Working Group, lead by Gill, which aims to strengthen the role of the Radiographer in ultrasound.

Seizing the opportunity, Charlotte Beardmore, EFRS Executive Board Member and EFRS Immediate Past President addressed “warm congratulations to Gill Harrison and colleagues on the EFRS Ultrasound working group, from the EFRS Executive Board, on winning the research presentation abstract award in merit at ECR 2022.”

Charlotte also thanked “for their hard work and commitment as a group, and for Gill’s leadership on winning this prestigious award. Very well done!”

After receiving this award, Gill said some words, that we are pleased to share with you below:

“On behalf of the EFRS ultrasound survey working group I was delighted to hear that we had received the award for the radiographer research presentation abstract at the 2022 European Congress of Radiology. The abstract is the culmination of over two years’ work, exploring current radiographer involvement in ultrasound practice across EFRS countries. The surveys have provided valuable information to help inform discussions with radiographer societies and support radiographers in countries where the ultrasound is already practised by radiographers or assist those who want to develop this as an area of radiographic practice. The survey group team have become great friends, and I have to thank Malene Roland Vils Pedersen from Denmark, Barbara Kraus from Austria and Rute Santos from Portugal for their on-going hard work, dedication and commitment to the projects. The work would not have been possible without the support of the EFRS committee and education group, but also the many radiographer societies, education providers and individual sonographers who gave up their time to complete surveys and provider feedback on the their roles or ambitions for ultrasound practice by radiographers across Europe. “

Once again the EFRS Executive Board congratulates the winners.

EFRS is happy to encourage and support all Radiographers to develop their professional role.
