Research areas

My research interest concerns studying semiotic technologies for making multimodal communication and interaction across media in professional, private and educational contexts; this research includes both an industry perspective and an user perspective.

I have published journal articles and book chapters on semiotic technology and practices, history of social media, website site design, social semiotic and cognitive approaches to multimodal analysis, multimodal semiosis as well as transduction or translation across modes of communication.

My teaching activities includes digital communication, marketing and web and mobile design. Also, I'm a member of Centre for Multimodal Communication (CMC) and Director of Centre for Organizational Practice, Communication, and Technology (COPCT). Finally, I serve a co-editor of Visual Communication.
