Personal profile

Research areas

Social design and societal transitions are the core interest of my work. In my research, and publications I have focused in particular on how social design as a practice-based research discipline can play a central role for reducing exclusion, marginalisation and injustice in the welfare state. My research contributions are two-fold: one strand of work consists of research-based interventions in public institutions such as hospitals and prisons, some of which are fully implemented and evaluated. Another strand of my work includes a number of academic publications contributing to establishing social design as a cross-disciplinary research area that intersects with social innovation, studies on socio-technical transitions, Future studies, political theory and social science.
