Personal profile

Research areas

My research focuses on epidemiological and intervention research related to young people’s mental health and health-related behaviors. I place particular emphasis on disadvantaged groups and educational settings. The projects that I lead use quantitative and qualitative methods to assess effects and implementation degree and to understand how interventions and policies work.

My primary research contributions include:

(1) Evaluating complex, school-based interventions and policies, especially within vocational schools and Preparatory Basic Education institutions. At the moment I am working on a policy implementation project investigating how the the legally mandated Smoke-Free School Hours policy is implemented.

(2) Health behaviors and their determinants and consequenses. In my research I have a focus on tobacco and nicotine use, digital media use, sleep and mental health.

(3) Employing quantitative and epidemiological methods, including the development and validation of questionnaires, the use of combined survey and register data, and advanced statistical techniques such as latent class analysis and time-lag models.
