Research areas

We have designed a randomised controlled trial to test the hypothesis that a multimodal intervention giving the general practitioner (GP) a facilitating role will improve rehabilitation for cancer patients.

The intervention includes information from the hospital ward to the general practitioner about individual problems and needs for rehabilitation and a encouragement to the GP to act proactive and contact the patient.

The effect of the intervention is evaluated with respect to health related quality of life (primary outcome), the general practitioners behaviour (proactive or wait-and-see), patient satisfaction with the general practitioners contribution and the health care professionals’ overall contribution to rehabilitation, and number of working days lost through sickness.
