Personal profile

Research areas

My PhD research focuses on the relationship between childhood adversity and cognitive development. Specifically, I examine whether and how accumulated and time-varying exposure to childhood adversity (e.g., material deprivation, loss of a family member, and parental divorce) impacts academic achievement throughout primary school and IQ measured during draft board examinations in young adulthood.

My PhD is part of a larger initiative, The Cognition Program, a collaborative project involving the University of Copenhagen (led by Professor Naja Hulvej Rod and Professor Zorana Jovanovic Andersen) and the National Institute of Public Health (with Professor Trine Flensborg-Madsen as the principal investigator), along with many other accomplished collaborators. The program aims to explore how social and environmental factors influence cognitive development.

For my research, I utilize register-based data from diverse sources, including the DANLIFE cohort, the Danish Conscription Registry, and National School Test scores provided by the Ministry of Children and Education.

In addition to my PhD work, I contribute to several projects investigating predictors of cognitive capacity in childhood and young adulthood.
