Research areas
After working as an industrial designer in industry, I received my PhD from Sheffield University in the UK. Previously I was an Associate Professor of Industrial Design at Middle East Technical University in Turkey. My research and teaching focus on design thinking, methods and processes; university-industry collaboration; interdisciplinary collaboration in design; and gender, technology and design; and new forms of work and employment in product development (e.g. entrepreneurship, freelance work, digital platforms). I have published several journal articles on design practice and education in prominent BFI2 journals such as The Design Journal, Design and Culture, International Journal of Technology and Design Education, and Design and Technology Education: An International Journal. I have also been part of the editorial team of Design and Culture in the role of Associate Editor since 2019.
