Personal profile

Research areas

I am a PhD Fellow in history at The Department of Culture and Language at The University of Southern Denmark. I specialize in Danish and global refugee and migration history.

My thesis investigates the 34.000 non-German refugees (known also as Allied Displaced Persons) that resided in Danish Refugee camps from 1945-1953. I especially focus on the refugees’ agency, rights and interactions with the refugee care system and its’ employees. I also have an interest in the care system’s structural (and often improvised) development during its brief existence. In my work I draw upon the theories of street-level bureaucracy, various interdisciplinary discussions of agency and insights from refugee and migrant studies.

I am also broadly interested in minority history and have previously worked withing the fields of Holocaust and gender History. I also have a growing interest in the history of charity and humanitarianism.
