Research information

My research focuses on ancient Greek drama, both tragedy and comedy, examining it from both a literary and a historical-contextual perspective. My work includes the publication of articles that address complex issues of philological, metrical and social nature in Greek tragedy and comedy.

In my research I utilise modern humanistic theories as well as fields such as cognitive linguistics, cognitive poetics and pragmatics. I have a particular interest in laughter and humour theory, which I explore in both historical and theoretical contexts.

I am currently working on a text-critical edition of Kolluthos' De raptu Helenae, combining philological precision with a deeper understanding of its cultural and literary significance. The work's unique narrative structure requires a rethinking of classical narratology and a deeper understanding of how the poets in Late Antiquity make use of ancient classics.
