Research Interests

Dr. Mikkel Højlund received his PhD from University of Southern Denmark in 2022 under the mentorship of Prof. Jesper Hallas.
Since 2013, he has worked as a medical doctor at the Department of Psychiatry Aabenraa at the Mental Health Services in the Region of Southern Denmark and as an associate professor of psychiatry and psychopharmacology at University of Southern Denmark.
Dr. Højlund’s research is primarily focused on using observational data from electronic health records and meta-analytical techniques to investigate the course of psychiatric disorders and the use of psychotropic drugs.
He is especially focused on applying these tools in the context of the use, efficacy, and safety of antipsychotics across the spectrum of psychiatric disorders.
