Personal profile

Research areas

I study intersections between art, literary studies, public health, and sociology. For my PhD, I examined political forms of recognition in literary works about race, gender and disability in order to look closely at how literary texts can help highlight struggles endured by social minorities. Currently, I work on projects that draw out the relevance and potential health benefits of art and literature for different vulnerable social groups, including people who suffer from dementia.

I've also worked empirically with the uses of literature in the context of social care work for at-risk youth in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Read for Your Life
