Personal profile

Research areas

My research focuses on Second Language Acquisition (SLA), multilingualism, and sociolinguistics, particularly Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and multilingual populations in international schools. I specialize in mixed-methods research, using quantitative (e.g., multiple linear regression, multinomial regression) and qualitative (e.g., interviews) techniques. I also aim to integrate structural equation modeling to enhance statistical insights into language learning.

My work examines the interaction between bi-multilingualism, English-medium education, and emotional expression/perception in language acquisition. Specifically, I investigate how multilingual learners express and perceive emotions across different languages. My research provides empirical insights into multilingual language learning and family language policy, with implications for pedagogical practices in international schools. My findings emphasize language choice in emotional expression and its effects on language development and well-being.

I have collaborated with international schools in Denmark, working with school leadership and educators to bridge research and practice. My research has been disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and conferences on multilingualism.

Currently, I am expanding my research to explore the broader sociolinguistic impact of international education on local and expatriate student populations.

Future directions include examining how multilingual dynamics influence emotions in language learning, particularly foreign language boredom, enjoyment, anxiety, willingness to communicate, and international posture. I am also interested in interdisciplinary collaborations at the intersection of psycholinguistics, international education policy, and multilingual identity formation.
