Katrine Rich Madsen

PhD, Research leader for Child and Adolescent Health

Personal profile

Research Interests

My research focuses on social inequality in child and adolescent  health, with a particular emphasis on adolescent mental health, well-being, and loneliness. I examine how social factors—such as socioeconomic status, migration background, school environment, and social relations—shape children and young people's mental health. With extensive experience in survey design, register-based research, interviews, and interventions, I specialize in ethical and methodological approaches to research involving children and adolescents and how qualitative and quantitative methods can be meaningfully integrated.

Additionally, I lead the Child and Adolescent Health research group at the National Institute of Public Health. Our team consists of dedicated and skilled researchers committed to studying and improving the health and well-being of children and adolescents.
