Jesper Roed Sørensen

Research areas

Jesper Roed Sørensen, MD, PhD is a clinical associate professor and otologist at Odense University Hospital and University of Southern Denmark. His research focuses on otology and neurotology, with particular emphasis on cochlear implantation, chronic ear disease, and patient centered outcomes related to hearing rehabilitation and surgical treatment of ear disorders.

His current work aims to optimize clinical pathways and long-term outcomes after cochlear implantation, including complications, postoperative management, and functional results from the patient perspective. He has a growing puplication record within otology and neurotology, including recent peer-reviewed works in international speciality journals, and is actively involved in supervising research students within these areas.

Earlier in his academic career, he conducted outcomes- and quality of life based research in thyroid surgery. This work provided a strong methodological foundation in clinical epidemiology and patient-reported outcomes measures, which he now applies directly to otology and neurotologic research.

In addition to his research activities, Jesper Roed Sørensen is engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has received an award for "Best Teacher" at the Audiology education programm based at the University of Southern Denmark. His academic work is closely intergrated with daily clinical practice with consistent focus on improving patient-relevant outcomes in ear surgery and hearing rehabilitation.
