CV and selected publications for Associate Professor, Ph.D., Heidi Philipsen

Short presentation:

Heidi Philipsen, (1971). Associate Professor, Ph. D., at Institute for the Study of Culture (IKV), University of Southern Denmark. Her field of research is creative processes and talent development within media, and she has among other publications finished a comprehensive study at The National Film School of Denmark. Philipsens Ph. D. thesis is called The New Wave of Danish Film - Influences and Imprints from The National Film School of Denmark (2004). The focus in her research is to locate links between creativity and constraints primarily in media processes. She argues why and how the didactic term ‘scaffolding’ is possible to se as a kind of ‘method’ used in both the educations at The National Film School of Denmark and in the creative processes behind films made a number of Danish directors. Rules in film making processes can further the inspiration and creativity and reduce the anxiety and stress. Her research in this field has illustrated how it is possible to describe and teach the creative processes of filmmaking, with the aid of rules. In her resent research she is focusing on how the flow condition in creativity processes seem to be initiated. The levels of scaffolding are used by Heidi Philipsen in analyzing the so called PlayOFF competition (Part of Odense International Film Festival), and the FarOutFilm Competition. She is involved in three important research projects: “Fynske Filmfortællinger – Vi træner talented” (Film Stories from Funen – Talent Training”), “Creativity and Innovation Conditions” (CIC), and “How to succeed in the private film and television industries? A production culture perspective”.
