Personal profile

Research areas

Gitte Rasmussen’s research interests lie in ethnomethodological  and conversation analytic (EMCA) studies of social interaction. Her work focuses on people’s practices and actions in interaction—on how these are bodily and multimodally shaped in relation to the material environment in which they unfold, and how they are designed for recipients who are ascribed particular social categories. Over the past 15 years, Gitte Rasmussen has primarily studied interactions involving participants with impairments, such as dementia or cerebral palsy.

She is interested in all forms of interaction, whether conducted face-to-face or via online platforms; whether centered on talk-in-interaction, intercorporeality, the use of tangible objects, or technologies such as robots or AI.
