Personal profile

Research information

In my recently completed PhD dissertation, The Work of Art in the Age of Automation: The Situationist Movement, 1956-1968, I focus on the profound transformations in the historical conceptualizations of the ‘work of art’ under the rapidly changing conditions of labor (and hence also of artistic production) during the postwar economic, technological and political restructuring of capitalism. Studying the impact of early cybernetic science and information theory in relation to the intellectual and artistic avant-gardes of postwar Europe, with a specific focus on the Situationist International, I identify and critique structural convergences between modes of industrial production and intellectual and artistic ‘work.'
