Research areas

Stem/progenitor cells are present in the majority of adult tissues where they participate in postnatal growth and tissue repair in relation to injuries. During the last years our research has dealt with isolation and characterization of stem cell populations in general from skeletal muscle, liver, adipose tissue as well as other tissues, in preparation for transplantation and intervention. In addition to this, we specifically study the role of dlk1 during proliferation and differentiation of various stem/progenitor cells and furthermore aim at determining which factors (including microRNA´s) that may regulate dlk1 expression. Our work and choice of methods is based on applications within in vivo detection-, isolation- and sorting of cells, protein-/gene expression, in vitro culture and in vivo transplantation into animal models.
