Research information

Dr. Burke is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow based at the Center for War Studies, Department of Political Science and Public Management. For this project, Dr. Burke is also affiliated with the School of Politics, Philosophy, International Relations and Environment (SPIRE) at Keele University in the United Kingdom. Her project explores non-governmental organization participation in Arctic diplomacy and politics, specifically the participation of environmental non/governmental organizations. Previously Dr. Burke's research was supported by a two year Carlsberg Foundation's Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship from 2016-2018. This research project explores themes of identity politics, environmental politics, diplomacy dynamics, and international cooperation pressures in the Arctic region. Dr. Burke's holds a PhD in International Politics from the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University, a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the Department of Political Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Burke's studies were funded by a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Social Science and Humanities Research Council) and a Rothermere Fellowship (Rothermere Fellowships Trust).
