Personal profile

Research Interests

My main field of expertise is ethics, especially contextual ethics, Wittgensteinian ethics and virtue ethics. Much of my work is applied philosophy and interdisciplinary collaboration in ethics focusing on ethics in healthcare, professional ethics and methods in moral philosophy.

I engage with two different lines of research. First, in moral philosophy and meta-philosophy, I develop contextual uses of moral theories to understand pluralistic moral concerns, drawing on Wittgensteinian ethics, virtue ethics, ethics of care, particularism and relational ethics. Second, I work in empirically informed healthcare, in several projects working on qualitative studies (interviews and observations) to inform ethical thinking on current challenges in healthcare. Combining these two lines of research have turned out to be crucial to develop theoretically informed approaches in healthcare practice and contextually sensitive approaches in moral philosophy.

Research information

I am involved in a number of projects in ethics of healthcare on professional ethics, moral distress, ethics of stem cells and AI in healthcare. I also currently work on a monograph on changes in individual moral responsibility funded by the Carlsberg Foundation.
