  1. Cohort studies of Faroese children for possible health effects after the mothers' exposure to marine contaminants during pregnancy.Mother / child cohorts established from 1986 to 2009 and the children were followed at regular intervals since birth. The central nervous system has been in focus, but also the immune system and cardiovascular system.
  2. Reproductive toxicity studies by determining the time to pregnancy and semen quality studies. 
  3. Studies of the elderly with a view to changes in the nerve-vascular system that can be related to lifetime exposure to contaminants.
  4. General public health studies with special emphasis on major risk factors  like,smoking, alcohol, diet and exercise.
