Organisation profile

How does technology shape culture and how does culture shape technology? These are the key questions that determine research and activities at this center.

We all deal with technology every day, and it is shaping the way we live, sense, and make the world. Think how cars shaped culture, how radio formed our habits of listening, and how the cloud impacts our mobility. But also vice versa: Cultural and aesthetic imaginaries of technology impact the use, design, and production of technology, and can serve as a prism to understand the role of technology in our society.

The center is dedicated to the investigation of culture and technology by focusing on a plethora of topics that stem from experiences with technology, such as automatization, human-machine interaction, and AI.

We approach these topics through various disciplines in the humanities as well as scholars of engineering and the social sciences in order to better understand the dynamics of technological changes and their societal relevance and innovation.
