Description

Programming skills have become essential in engineering sustainable solutions. This course is
designed to provide students with the necessary programming tools to tackle sustainability
challenges in various engineering fields. Students will learn how to analyse data, model complex
systems, and design sustainable engineering solutions using programming. The course combines
theoretical concepts, hands-on coding exercises, and real-world case studies (group projects) to
offer a comprehensive learning experience.
The programming for engineering sustainability course will consist of four parts:
a. Fundamentals of programming (Python): Variables, data types, control structures, and
functions.
b. Data analysis and visualization: Techniques for processing and visualising data using Python
libraries.
c. Geospatial analysis: Spatial data analysis for mapping and monitoring environmental
phenomena.
d. Group project: Apply programming knowledge to solve sustainability issues in real-world
scenarios
